49 insurgents killed: Afghan govt says

KABUL - Afghan Interior Ministry said Sunday that 49 anti-government militants have been killed, six injured and 25 other made captive over the past 24 hours across the militancy-hit country.
"Afghan National Police, army and the NATO-led Coalition forces have conducted 15 joint operations in several provinces over the past 24 hours throughout the country during which 49 armed rebels have been killed," a statement released by Interior Ministry here asserted.
Six more insurgents have been wounded and 25 others were arrested, the statement further said.
Two police have been killed and two other sustained injuries during the operations, according to the statement.
However, it did not say if the operations is over.
Taliban militants fighting Afghan and NATO-led troops have yet to make comment.
